Things we love about Cleveland

1)   Sports, sports, sports! LeBron James, Braylon Edwards,  Cleveland’s pro football, basketball, and baseball teams all play within walking distance of each other. Group outings to upcoming games are already planned.

2)   Culture – Cleveland is not just a sports town. Our main hospital and the VA are situated in University Circle, the cultural center of Cleveland. Our world-class orchestra plays steps away from hospital, set in a beautiful park with several museums and botanical gardens. The Cleveland Symphony Orchestra also has a great summer series at Blossom Music Center, inside Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

3)   Speaking of parks – Cleveland boasts the “Emerald Necklace,” a chain of nine Metroparks with lots of hiking trails, fishing spots, lakes and rivers for canoeing and kayaking, beaches, picnicking, and more!

4)   Cuisine – Cleveland may not have quite the diversity of food that New York or LA do but we do have a thriving downtown restaurant scene and our share of popular and authentic ethnic locales. You can find authentic Italian (Little Italy), Greek (West Side), Polish (West Side), Puerto Rican (West Side) and other types of food throughout the city.

5)   Happy hour – We love to socialize both in and after work and we’ve found some great places and happy hour specials to unwind after work.

Residents in our program have also been known to: Karaoke, golf, engage in some competitive tennis, ice skate, take jazzercise classes, check out the popular and indie music scene, play in a softball league with an attending, road-trip together to cities like Chicago, Toronto, and Detroit (so far...more trips are being planned!)
